Description

The United Way of Southwest Alabama (UWSWA) is partnering with the USA Office of Community Engagement to host a Day of Caring on Friday, March 29.

One of our volunteer sites will be Vets Recover, a local partner dedicated to providing a unique recovery program and removing barriers to care for Veterans, their families, caregivers, and survivors suffering from post-traumatic stress, substance abuse, and other wellness issues.

Volunteers will assist Vets Recover with general lawn maintenance (raking, weed eating, picking up any debris, etc.) in the yard behind their Detox & Residential Facility. This space is being developed as an outside extension of their recovery facility, offering relaxation, meditation, walking, and more for their patients and clients as they move towards sustained recovery.

Transportation to/from this event will be provided, and we plan to depart the University at 10 a.m. and return by 1:30 p.m.

T-shirts, work gloves, and lunch will also be provided. Please use this link to let us know your shirt/glove size, as well as any dietary restrictions you might have: https://forms.gle/H2mGsT8qS53poqZg6
