The United Way of Southwest Alabama (UWSWA) is partnering with the USA Office of Community Engagement to host a Day of Caring on Friday, March 24, to engage volunteers in helping local community organizations complete projects they do not typically have the time or resources to do throughout the year.
While projects can vary depending on the number of volunteers who sign up to participate, one of our volunteer sites will be American Red Cross - South Alabama Chapter, a local partner dedicated to alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies. Volunteers at Red Cross will help with washing vehicles used to provide and deliver services. A second site will be Goodwill Gulf Coast, a partner that provides programs and services to help individuals and families overcome challenges due to disabilities and other barriers that impact economic well-being, self-sufficiency, and quality of life. Volunteers at Goodwill will help sort children's books meant for at-home and classroom libraries.
Our Day of Caring will be Friday, March 24, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and transportation will be provided. Lunch will also be provided.
Since projects are assigned based on the number of people participating, please respond to this need by Wednesday, March 22, so we can confirm our project assignments. If you have a project preference, please include it in the Notes field of your Need Response. Please also let us know if you have any dietary restrictions.
