It's time to put our hands where our hearts are and serve the community around Oaklawn Cemetery to help preserve its beauty!
The forecast shows Saturday to be sunny and in the high 50s.
All participants should meet for check-in/registration at the entrance of Oaklawn Cemetery, followed by a safety briefing. Parking is available in the lot across from First Baptist Church (see attached maps). If the Whitney Street lot is full, there is also a grass lot at the intersection of Yuckers St/Holt Rd.
EVENT: Oaklawn Cemetery Cleanup
DATE: February 27, 2021
TIME: Registration at 8:45 a.m., Cleanup 9-11 a.m.
LOCATION: Cemetery Ln, Mobile, AL 36617
Directions:
- From Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave, turn on to Crawford Lane
- Continue on Crawford lane, take a right turn onto Holt Road
- Continue on holt Road, at the 2nd intersection turn left onto Whitney Avenue, parking is directly across from the church or on the grass lot.
What we will provide:
- Water coolers for refillable water bottles ( will have reusable cups )
- Pickers, safety vests, gloves, and garbage bags.
- Bug spray and sunscreen
- First aid kit
What we encourage volunteers to wear and bring:
Masks are required (required at registration and safety debriefing but can be removed once clean-up starts and volunteers are spread out); please practice social distancing and COVID safety precautions at all times.
- Comfortable, warm clothes that you do not mind getting dirty.
- Comfortable, closed-toe shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.
- Refillable water bottles
- Rakes and/or a weed eater ( You are responsible for bringing and keeping up with your belongings )
