Become a Victim Advocate with Mobile's Rape Crisis Center
There is a great need in our community for advocates to provide support for victims and survivors of sexual assault.
Rape Crisis will train, support and supervise you as part of a network of organized volunteers who respond to victims of sexual assault. In this training you will learn crisis intervention, active listening & empathy skills, the neurobiology of trauma, suicide intervention, working with underserved populations, self care, and much more.
By being available you will be part of the first step in the journey to healing that our clients will be making. Most victims of sexual assault are seen at University of South Alabama Children’s and Women’s Hospital. Our advocates are with the victims throughout the forensic/medical exam as well as a support for clients who call into the crisis line.
*To attend this training, you are required to submit an application, pass a background check, and complete an interview.
