Who We Are

We are a student organization at the University of South Alabama. Our purpose is to be advocates on campus for animals and to show that animals' lives are valuable, and they are worthy of living a life free from unnecessary harm or cruelty. Animal rights is defined as "the idea in which all non-human animals are entitled to the possession of their own lives and that their most basic interests—such as the need to avoid suffering—should be afforded the same consideration as similar interests of human beings." We believe animals' lives and bodies belong to them, just like our own lives and bodies belong to us.

What We Do

We have several meetings each semester and schedule activities and events consistently, averaging about 3 events per semester. Some of the events we've held in the past include the following: fundraising for animal rescue organizations, pet food drives, garnering signatures on animal rights petitions, hosting informational speakers on campus, giving out free plant-based food, chalking positive animal rights messages on sidewalks across campus, leafleting, setting up themed tables and providing animal rights information, tailgating at South football games, providing virtual reality headsets where students can view life from an animal's perspective, hosting documentary screenings, working with Dining Services to provide more plant-based/animal-friendly food options on campus, and more.
