What We Do
The Department of Health, Kinesiology, and Sport has been an integral part of the University of South Alabama for more than forty years. The Department offers an Alabama state approved teacher education program in Health and Physical Education as well as dual certification program in both Health and Physical Education. The Department also offers non-teaching programs in Health, Exercise Science, and a Sport and Recreation Studies major with concentrations in Recreational Therapy and Sport Management and Recreation Studies. The Department offers a University-wide physical activity program. Several health, fitness, and leisure studies related courses are popular with non-majors from most of the Colleges within the University. We are housed in the Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Building or Jaguar Gym, which also serves the Department of Athletics.
