

Who We Are
Established in 1985, The South Baldwin Literacy Council is an educational, not-for-profit dedicated to providing literacy instruction to help people in our community make a better life for themselves and their families. Our Vision is to meet the educational needs of our community. We hope to continue to working with our students to help them reach their learning goals.
What We Do
The South Baldwin Literacy Council provides various free educational programs and services for community members of all ages and backgrounds. Our Youth Department provides In-School and After-School tutoring programs across Baldwin County. In our Adult Department, we provide five programs to address different educational needs. We offer an In-Person and Online GED Program, graduating 37 students in 2023! We provide individual tutoring services to adults in need of Adult Basic Education. Our Career Advancement Program helps students take their improved literacy to the next level through continuing education or increasing employability. We provide a dynamic English as a Second Language Program - offering 14 classes per week as well as individual tutoring. Lastly, we offer an Adult Excellence Academy aimed at providing all community members with access to free educational presentations.
SBLC is dedicated to empowering our community through education.
