Show some Jaguar spirit by participating in Dr. Seuss Day at John Will Elementary School for their 2019 Read Across America Day!
Each year, USA faculty, staff, and students are invited to participate in John Will Elementary's celebration of the birth of Dr. Seuss by reading aloud to classes. On Friday, March 1, 2019, grades Pre-K through 5th will celebrate his birthday by taking part in Seuss reading-related activities. You may bring your own age/grade appropriate books, or borrow one from their media center. (Dr. Seuss books are not required, but books with pictures work well for classroom reading!)
Respond to the Need on South Serves using this link, sign in at the school's front office (with your Licence/ID), read to a class, then sign out & track your hours... it's that easy. The goal is to have at least one reader per class for each grade level. Volunteer for 1 hour or more, depending on your schedule.
8:00 - 4 sections of 5th graders
8:30 - 1 section of Pre-K 4
9:30 - 4 sections of Kindergarten, 4 sections of 4th grade
10:00 - 4 sections of 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades, 1 Special Ed self-contained class
11:30 - 1 section of Special Ed, self contained class
12:00 - 1 section of Pre-K 3
(Capacity for time slots allows for partners if we have enough volunteers; feel free to invite a friend to Respond too!)
Please respond no later than February 28th, by 12:30 p.m. so that they know how many readers to expect.
