Joe Jefferson Players is excited to present "Gee’s Bend", a story focused on the
Pettway women, quilters from the isolated community of Gee's Bend, Alabama. Beginning in
1939, the play follows Alice, her daughters Sadie and Nella, and Sadie's husband, Macon,
through segregation, family strife, and the Civil Rights movement.
As part of our community's commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a special performance will be hosted on January 12 at 7:30 p.m. in collaboration with People United to Advance the Dream. The University of South Alabama community is invited to attend, and you are asked to reserve your seats in advance. Seats will be available on a first come, first served basis. This event is not ticketed, but donations are welcome.
