The 2023 Steps for Sickle Cell Walk is a fundraiser for the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America - Mobile Chapter, Inc. (SCDAA-MC) Proceeds, above the cost of the event, will support the programs and services offered by the SCDAA-MC. The programs and services include targeted case management, career assistance, medical and pharmacy referrals, support groups, transportation assistance, after-school tutorial and summer enrichment programs, sickle cell trait and disease counseling, free sickle cell screenings, health fairs, blood drives, and community education.
Sickle cell disease is a genetic disorder that affects the red blood cells, and can cause a variety of serious health problems that may lead to an early death. There is no universal cure for sickle cell disease, but with support and proper medical attention, a person with sickle cell disease can lead a full and productive life.
SCDAA-MC strives to empower our clients and their families with knowledge, and provide them with high quality comprehensive programs and services. The continued success of the programs and services provided by SCDAA-MC depend on contributions from generous supporters like those who sponsor and/or participate in the Steps of Sickle Cell Walk.
Join us as we gather to walk along the walking path of the beautifully manicured Langan Park with mixed terrain utilizing the sidewalks and roads within the park.
