Description

WHAT:  The Heart Walk is an exciting national event and the American Heart Associations's signature fundraising event.  People across the country will be walking this fall to raise funds to support the lifesaving research, educational programs, and advocacy component of the American Heart Association.

WHO:    More than 1500 local walkers made up of businesses, hospitals, schools, organizations, family and friends.

WHEN:  Saturday, October 6th at the USA Campus - Moulton Bell Tower

WHY:     Heart disease is the number one killer of Americans.  The Heart Walk promotes the importance of exercise as part of a heart-healthy lifestyle while raising funds to continue vital research leading to the latest treatments for cardiovascular diseases and stroke.  Since 1974, the American Heart Association has funded more than $15M in research awards to the University of South Alabama.

HOW:     Businesses and organizations support the Mobile Heart Walk by forming teams comprised of 12 or more walkers.  Our goal is to raise $450,000.  Companies and organizations also support the Heart Walk by becoming sponsors, giving either dollars or in-kind donations.

VOLUNTEERS:  If you would like to volunteer, please see Needs for Set Up on October 5 from 12noon to 2pm, or for the Event on October 6 from 6am to Noon.
