Cycling for Sickle Cell - 5 miles of Fun & 30 miles more is a fun ride to raise funds for the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America - Mobile Chapter, Inc. (SCDAA-MC). This is year is the 40th year anniversary of the SCDAA-MC. This event jumpstarts a memorable year!
The ride has two components - a mile 5 mile ride and a 37 mile ride. The price for participation is $30 - 5 Mile Ride through May 6, 2016 and $40 day of event for the 5 Mile Ride; $40 - 37 mile ride through May 6, 2016 and $50 day of event for the 37 mile ride; a flat $15 - for children up to age 18 yrs old for both routes.
The routes are as follows:
- The first 5 miles of the ride will travel the MAMGA Mardi Gras route that MAMGA takes on Fat Tuesday to share their variety of throws and entertain the the Mardi Gras masses.
- The next 32 miles will seperate from the pack as the route returns to the MAMGA Den and turn right onto Congress Street and continue to Water to go under the I-165 overpass to take Conception Street to Craft Highway/New Bay Bridge Road on across the Africatown Cochran Bridge down the Causeway up the Spanish Fort Hill and back to the MAMGA Den.
Approximately one hour from the start of the ride the Children's Fun Ride will begin. So parents bring your children to enjoy the fun, too.
