Description

The traditional tax season may be over, but there are still people in our community who need help with their tax returns. United Way of Southwest Alabama's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program is here to help them, and that's where you come in. You can train now, and assist our taxpayers in the summer and fall; and as a side benefit, you'll be comfortable with tax preparation in time to help us with the regular tax season next January. Here's your chance to train and get practical experience in a low pressure environment so you can be more effective as a volunteer tax preparer when taxpayers need you the most.
If you're interested in volunteering with UWSWA and the SAFE Coalition as a tax return preparer, join us for one of our lab sessions. You'll be given the chance to prepare practice returns, apply tax law concepts, and get questions answered by certified trainers.
Please RSVP as soon as possible so we can get you some study materials prior to the lab session. You'll want to have some background knowledge when you come into a lab, so we'll provide the information you need to get started just as soon as you tell us you're interested.
When: Date/Time to be determined; when can you come?
Where: Spring Hill College, exact location to be determined

This posting is for a lab session that has already happened, but more will be scheduled. If you're interested in learning to be one of our tax volunteers, please respond to the need using the link below. We're happy to have you!
