Who We Are

Covenant Academy of Mobile’s mission is to create and maintain a positive learning environment that promotes relevant and engaging learning, inspires students to be ambassadors of good character, empowers students to develop skill sets and a passion for lifelong learning. Our vision is to empower all students to take ownership of their learning, so they are prepared for success as leaders in a globalized world. To create the culture we desire, we believe by instilling core values with the elementary students, as they are promoted to each grade level they will bring those values with them, as we expand our positive environment year to year.

What We Do

Covenant Academy of Mobile (CAM) is Mobile, Alabama’s first and only chartered K-12 tuition-free, public charter school. We believe that we owe it to our students, parents/guardians, and society to educate all students to their highest potential, so they are equipped to become leaders in a global society. We opened on August 8, 2023, and accept students from all areas of Mobile County. We currently serve grades K-6, adding an additional grade level each year through 2031 when grade 12 is reached. Our projected maximum capacity is 852. We currently serve a 93% disadvantaged student population, with 81% of which being categorized as at-risk. We also have Title 1 designation. All enrolled students receive 100% free meals through the USDA’s CEP program. CAM is committed to a school-wide STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) curriculum and bilingual immersion for our 328-student population. Higher grade levels will have options for additional pathways programming. We currently partner with Feeding the Gulf Coast to assist with food insecurity and nutrition for the students and families of our CAM community. We offer small class sizes ranging from up to 18 students per class for lower grades to 26 for higher grade levels. Our partnerships with stakeholders, businesses and higher education will also provide opportunities that promote learning. Our programming is a culturally responsive approach to teaching and learning that connects students’ cultures, languages, and life experiences. This approach supports respect for diversity and increases academic skills. It also signifies to everyone that “you belong” and together we can make a better world.
