Who We Are

For over fifteen years, Redbird Legacies has been in the making, first as a dream, then as a simple mission statement carried around on a crumpled, lined piece of paper inside our founder’s pocket, until the stagnation of the dream finally became a fulfilled purpose. Our mission is to honor and preserve the lives of the terminally ill through the creation of remembrances in the forms of dance, visual art, theater, cinematography, music, and creative writing, at long last, any medium which can be utilized to recreate lives. All the seemingly insignificant revelries that make our loved ones who they are, who you are, and will become. Tell their stories or help them to tell their own. The secret tender moments presently lost to the rest of the world can be found in songs, dance, monologues, clay, to celebrate the significance of well-lived lives so their stories continue along with their undying love.

Our licensed therapists and psychologists perform intake services as the first steps of each client’s journey, for “Honest listening is one of the best medicines we can offer the dying and the bereaved.” — Jean Cameron. While we remain and when we pass on, we are creating and have created legacies worth preserving for our loved ones and generations, hopefully, many generations to come. As surely as we leave carbon footprints and digital footprints, we should choose to leave our stories, our struggles, our victories, and our failures as testaments of our common humanity and the power of our wills as assigned by God. Let’s create lasting legacies together. Donate or volunteer today!

What We Do

We are a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization with a mission to honor and preserve the lives of the terminally ill through the creation of remembrances in the forms of dance, visual art, theater, cinematography, music, and creative writing. We also provide mental wellness support and financial assistance to low-income families to help pay for funeral services expenses. Our artists offer the recreations of lives in the forms of art as well as biographical or documentary footage. This information can be provided by the bereaving family members or the patient whose life will be recorded by an end of life therapist because we recognize there are profound difficulties to transverse that only a licensed professional is experienced to handle. We will primarily rely on volunteer artists of all genres to provide a body of giftwork to leave for the terminally ill's family and friends in the celebration of their lives.
