Who We Are
Working to meet the interests of our community, we strive to curate and host special exhibits that are timely and resonant. In 2017, the Museum founded the Robert Thrower Medicinal Garden, a community garden featuring 50 plant species that highlight multicultural traditions of herbal medicine that are thousands of years old. The Garden is free to visit during daylight hours seven days a week. With a broad cradle-to-career approach to museum education, we offer programs such as Black Bag Story Time (ages 3 to 8); Junior MedCamp (ages 7 to 9), the region’s only healthcare-themed summer camp for young children; and free public lectures on local college campuses. Our tour program serves hundreds of medical, nursing, and allied health students as well as many K-12 school groups throughout the year.
What We Do
The Mobile Medical Museum preserves and exhibits medical artifacts and archives to commemorate Mobile’s prominent place in the history of medical education and public health within the state of Alabama and the Gulf Coast. The Museum’s collections and exhibitions provide the public with a broad understanding of the evolution of the art and science of health care.
