Join the Title IX Office for an engaging Consent Workshop focused on building healthy communication, understanding boundaries, and fostering mutual respect in sexual and interpersonal relationships. Through open discussion and hands-on activities, students will gain practical tools to recognize enthusiastic consent and navigate real-life situations with confidence and care.

Do you want to help keep our campus clean? Do you like recycling?

If so, this event is perfect for you! Arrive at the Hancock Whitney Stadium after the game to help gather all recyclables form the stands and save them from landfills. We will be provided materials, such as gloves, sticks to pick up trash, and bags, by the Grounds Department. Even if you can't make it right on time or stay until the job is done, any help is welcome.

Here's how the event will go...

For those driving to the event, you may use entrance 1 or 2 to enter the campus, and should be allowed to park nearby the stadium. We will be gathering at the South Paw statue close to the end of the game, and will move into the stadium through entrance four (if you are facing South Paw, follow the wall to your left.)

For the safety of all involved, a waiver will be required. Waivers will be provided upon arrival at the stadium. This waiver covers all Green Games in the fall 2025 semester, so if you attend multiple Green Games, you will only need to sign the waiver once.

In celebration of World Kindness Day, Pi Omega is sharing love and light through our Hearts for Hospice service project. Members will create thoughtful, handwritten cards for hospice patients to brighten their day and remind them they are cared for. A small act of kindness can make a world of difference and together, we’re spreading compassion, one card at a time.

Join Abeneefoo Kuo (ABK) Honor Society as we celebrate Warmth & Wellness Week with a special act of kindness and connection! Volunteers will help create holiday cards filled with love and encouragement, then visit Brookside Senior Living Community to sing Christmas carols and spread joy to the residents. This event is all about uplifting spirits, promoting emotional well-being, and reminding our community that the holiday season is brighter when we give back together. Let’s bring warmth, laughter, and a little holiday magic to those who need it most!

Interested in working with senior citizens? Like or want experience coordinating fun events and activities? Volunteers are needed to help coordinate and oversee social outings for seniors without mobility impairments. These social outings may include dining, movies, gaming, field trips, shopping excursions, retreats, weekend trips, on a biweekly and/or monthly basis.

This opportunity has both in-person and virtual elements, and schedules will be established that work for both the volunteers and the program participants. Program participants are located in both Mobile and Pensacola areas. Mileage and meals will be provided when travel is required.

Volunteers are needed to support youth activities on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month, typically between 1 to 4 p.m. Depending on the volunteers' schedules, these dates/times can be flexible. Volunteers are asked to help create and implement the academic projects/field trips that are being done with the youth in our program.

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the Independent Music Collective (IMC) will be holding its first book fair of the semester in the HUMB courtyard from 9am to 4pm. Come browse our wide selection of used books (on all topics) and music in a variety of formats.

Volunteers are needed to assist with the fair during SET UP (7-9am) and TAKE DOWN (4-5pm). RESPOND here and serve one hour or more!

You can also just come to browse! Monetary donations collected support the IMC concert series. The IMC is a student organization at the University of South Alabama that works together with USA faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the broader community in an effort to enrich Mobile's music scene. Founded in 2009, the IMC sponsors a listening-room concert series that features roots musicians and Americana acts. Over the past 15 years, the IMC's concert series has become one of the premier listening-room stopovers in the Southeast.

St. Joseph Hospice is calling all volunteers ages 15 and older. St. Joseph Hospice is looking for volunteers for the following:

The ladies of Chi Omega spent their afternoon and evening cleaning and dedicating time and love to their house.

The girls of Chi Omega participated in a campus wide endeavor to raise money and awareness to the American Heart Association 

Join us in keeping our beloved nature trail on campus clean! 

The campus's nature trails are beloved by students and the community alike, being an important part of recreation as well as research. For this reason, it is imperative to preserve its natural landscape and remove bits of litter and trash that may get left along the trails. 

We will be set up at a table in front of the trails from 9 am to 12 pm with waivers and materials, such as gloves, bags, and pick up sticks.

Please wear close toed shoes and bring water with you to stay hydrated! 

Members of sororities competed in Pi Kappa Phi's first ever fashion show, a fundraiser for the Ability Experience. The participants came up with their own costumes for 3 different events: decades, holidays, and sorority/philanthropy. Thank you for all who participated!!

Donor to Diner is a student organization that oversees the Food Pantry on campus at the Academic Services Center.  Volunteers sort donations, separate items based on expiration date, and organize items into categories like: protein, vegetables & fruits, soup, and miscellaneous. 

Volunteer Opportunities: 

Shifts are available and are scheduled on a first-come-first-served basis.  You can sign up for any shift that fits your schedule by responding to this need, as long as there is an available spot open. You can still sign up for a slot that is full, but you will be put on a waitlist and be notified if your status changes. Sweet treats are a wonderful way to start fall break! The ladies of Chi Omega raised money for Make-A-Wish by selling yummy treats. 

Are you good at helping people put their life on a tax form?  You will get all the training you need to save local families LOTS of money by helping them get their taxes done for free.  Or volunteer to help with desk duty, welcoming and directing clients to meet with tax preparers.

Goodwill Gulf Coast will be staffing two locations to prepare taxes for free for local residents.  The Ladd Learning Center is located at 2440 Gordon Smith Drive in Mobile 36617, and the Azalea Community Center is 300-F Azalea Road, Mobile 36609.  Hours for VITA will be posted in January.  Spend this fall learning all you need to know with VITA training, so you will be ready for the tax season in late January.  Next class starts soon!

Share on Social Media: Follow us online and share our posts about adoptable animals, events, and volunteer opportunities. A simple share can connect a pet with their forever home!

Attend and Promote Events: Join us at community events or help promote them by inviting friends, sharing event info, or posting flyers in local hot spots.

Our volunteers are a vital part of our hospice team. Our patients and families connect with our volunteers on a deeper level as they open up their hearts to our volunteers who are compassionate with a servants heart. Visiting with these patients can minimize loneliness and provide them with a sense of belonging through fellowship. These volunteers can provide companionship and share interests, engage in games with the patients, read to the patients, journal, write letters to our patients and families, card making, provide a helping hand and a listening ear, provide caregiver relief as the family is able to have some free time to run errands, light housework, and many more tasks! Dwell Connect (formerly Passport to Literacy) is our tutoring program for all school-aged children, held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 4:00-5:45pm. 

Volunteers are needed from 3:30-6:00pm and will help with a variety of activities, including one-on-one tutoring, enrichment activities, and playing soccer! 

This program will be held at Spring Hill Presbyterian Church at 10 Westminster Way, beginning 10/28, and will follow the public school calendar.

What’s a Shelter Helper?
Stop by anytime you have 2 hours to spare, just say you're here to be a shelter helper! Shelter Helpers are the backbone of our daily operations. By tackling tasks like laundry, dishes, and general tidying, you free up staff to focus on animal care — and you make the shelter a cleaner, more comfortable place for our furry friends.

What You’ll Do:

Wash and dry animal bedding, fold and organizing towels, and blankets

Wash and sanitize food/water bowls and toys

Sweep, mop, and tidy common areas as needed

Restock supplies and keep workspaces organized

Pitch in wherever a helping hand is needed

Qualifications:

Comfortable working around dogs and cats but not necessarily with them (if you don't want to)

Willing to get a little messy (laundry and dishes can be a splash zone!)

Able to lift light to moderate loads of laundry and supplies

Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or with a team

Flexible with tasks — needs can change daily

What’s a Dog Bio Writer?
As a Bio Writer, you’ll visit the shelter, meet our adoptable dogs, and get to know their personalities. From silly quirks to heartwarming habits, you’ll turn your observations into engaging bios that showcase each dog’s unique charm and help potential adopters fall in love and get to know them.

What You’ll Do:

Visit the shelter regularly to meet and interact with dogs in adoption

Learn about each dog’s personality, likes, and needs

Take or gather photos that match your bio

Write clear, engaging, and accurate bios for our website, Facebook, and Adoptables 

Update bios when needed (e.g., new skills learned, behavior changes, or milestones)

Qualifications:

Comfortable interacting with dogs of all sizes and energy levels **Will do Dog walker training**

Good writing and storytelling skills

Reliable and detail-oriented

Willing to commit to complete bios promptly

Able to work independently and follow guidelines for accuracy and tone

Help us accept, organize, price, and sell items in our thrift store! Donations to the thrift store are dropped off consistently to be organized and set out. All proceeds of Dwell Goods go to Dwell Mobile. Hours for the thrift store are Tuesday-Friday, 10:00am-6:00 pm and Saturdays 10:00am-3:00pm. *Shifts can be for full or half days or a few hours to work with your schedule.*

Through greek involvement in the “Water a Greek” activity, members are helping raise awareness for breast cancer prevention and early detection — a cause that continues to impact countless lives within our communities.

About “Water a Greek”: Participants will throw a ball at a target that releases a bucket of water over a volunteer.

It’s a fun and engaging way to draw attention to such an important cause while spreading laughter and unity across our campus.

Hospice volunteers are the most special in the world! They always have the biggest hearts!     

Regular visits from Hospice Companions can minimize patient loneliness and isolation through fellowship.  These volunteers provide companionship to the patients and relief to their caregivers by offering a supportive presence, a listening ear and a helping hand. These type of volunteer may provide companionship, care-relief, pet therapy, life review, reading to the patient, playing games, writing letters on behalf of patient and many more tasks.  These volunteers are needed in Mobile County.  

If you have ever had a family member on Hospice, you have hopefully seen the impact that wonderful visitors can make on an entire family. 

This volunteer opportunity is great for students looking to build their resumes and get patient experience. Volunteering with patients 1:1  can sometimes be a little daunting, but we work hard to make things really comfortable for everyone! At the end of life, comfort is one of Hospice's main goals. If you are great at crafts, sewing, knitting, or crocheting, you can help provide comfort to patients and families who need it greatly!   

Items like lap blankets, fidget blankets, cards, room decorations, scrap booking, and more are needed. Your imagination can run wild because these items can go straight to patients and families to let them know someone cares.

Hospice volunteers are some of the most special people in the world! They always have the biggest hearts!    

Administrative volunteers are great to be able to help the office staff with clerical tasks such as answering phones, mailings, helping to make marketing goodies, filing and organizing in the office, writing cards and letters to our patients and bereaved families.  We are looking for volunteers in the area for Mobile County. Administrative volunteers can make their own schedule and volunteer as often or as little as possible. This is an ongoing volunteer position, and we can use folks all year helping with tasks.    

The ladies of Chi Omega philanthropy team embodied what it means to truly love MAW. The girls danced, laughed and conducted tasks to create a wonderful night centered around the wish percipients.

Cleaning Support Volunteer
Reports to: Kennel Staff II or Training Staff

As a Cleaning Support Volunteer, you’ll work alongside the kennel team to maintain clean, safe, and sanitary conditions throughout the shelter. A well-maintained environment helps reduce illness, keeps pets comfortable, and ensures animals are presented in their best light to potential adopters.

Location: Mobile County Animal Shelter 7665 Howells Ferry Rd
Time Commitment:

Shifts are approximately 3 hours long

Weekdays: Between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM

Weekends: Between 7:00 AM and 2:00 PM

Shifts are flexible - coordinate with the Volunteer Coordinator or training kennel staff.

Assist with routine cleaning and sanitation tasks

Help maintain a healthy and presentable shelter environment

Check in with staff at the beginning of each shift for assigned tasks

Sanitize surfaces and areas within the adoption center following established protocols

Clean food/water dishes, perform laundry, and assist in feeding areas

Mark off completed tasks and communicate notes or needs to staff

Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety and cleaning protocols

Able to lift between 10–40 pounds

Comfortable walking, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods

Friendly and respectful when interacting with staff, visitors, and other volunteers

Committed to supporting the shelter’s mission and policies

Must be at least 18 years old with adult signed waiver 

Members are needed to volunteer to help table and sell t-shirts for our fundraiser.

For your first day at the shelter, bring a valid photo ID. You’ll receive your Volunteer Handbook, sign a waiver, and complete a quick 40-minute training at the start of your shift.

Members are needed to help table at the summer orientation dates to help welcome incoming Jags to their new home. 

Students will have the chance to make their own ice cream sundaes and write uplifting letters to encourage their peers during midterms. Every card is worth 30 minutes.

The Road To Recovery Volunteer Driver provides people with transportation to and from their cancer-related medical appointments. Drivers donate their time to help people with cancer get the lifesaving treatments they need.

Volunteers choose the rides that work best for their schedule. Most rides are scheduled during the weekday between 7am and 7pm. The American Cancer Society asks volunteers to commit to a minimum of 2 rides per month.

As a Road to Recovery driver, you can serve your community and help local people, provide support and encouragement, have rewarding one to one interactions with cancer patients, build relationships and save lives. Road to Recovery offers flexible scheduling, you drive as much or as little as you want when you want.

Mobile County Animal Shelter is looking for dedicated volunteers to help our dogs find loving homes — using your spare time, media skills, and passion!

What’s an Adoption Advocate?
As an Adoption Advocate, you’ll select one dog — or a small handful — to champion. You’ll visit the shelter to meet them, learn their personality, and gather photos or videos. Then, from home or on the go, you’ll create engaging posts, write heartfelt bios, and share their story across socials, community groups, and other online platforms to connect them with potential adopters.

What You’ll Do:

Visit the shelter to meet and photograph your chosen dog(s)

Write engaging bios that capture their personality

Promote them on socials, community pages, and adoption groups

Share updates to keep interest alive until they’re adopted

Stay informed on daily adoptions by keeping up with our Facebook and Adoptable page

Qualifications:

Must be comfortable and active on socials

Able to regularly check the shelter’s Facebook and Adoptable page to stay up-to-date

Good writing and communication skills

Passion for helping dogs and sharing their stories

Self-motivated and able to work independently in your spare time

Looking for a great way to give back? We are looking for volunteers for the Little Sisters of the Poor Lawn Party which will be held on October 19th. The Lawn Party is our biggest fundraiser of the year that helps support our mission of loving service to the elderly poor. It is a day filled with family fun, carnival food, games, raffles, music and fun! T-shirts are provided for volunteers. There are 2-hour, 4-hour, and all-day shifts available. Volunteers needed to tutor elementary through high school students in all subject areas: English, math, science, and history. Tutors are needed Monday through Thursday from between 3-5 p.m. Tutors can attend one or more days per week. We will do virtual and/or in-person tutoring and will supply you with more information after you have responded to this need. We also need tutors for Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30 p.m. (virtual only). When responding to this need, please inform us of your preference in working with a group from elementary, middle, or high school students. If you do not have a preference, that's okay too.

Community Lunch is a weekly meal provided free of charge to the families we serve and allows us to stay connected with and minister to the adults in our community. We begin serving at noon and typically serve approximately 60-80 individuals. We are usually finished serving by 12:45pm. Volunteers generally arrive around 11:30 to set up and once they are done serving the meal, many enjoy sitting and eating with our folks and even praying with them. We serve a meal to 55+ middle and high school students each Wednesday evening as part of our Teen Night Bible study! These meals are all generously sponsored or provided by local families, churches, schools, civic organizations, and businesses! Monday Movers help us pick up thrift store donations for our thrift store - Dwell Goods! We need volunteers every Monday beginning at 11am. Larger vehicles, trucks, and trailers for pick-ups are most helpful, but not required. We are most in need of hands to help move and organize! Volunteers can expect to serve a few hours until early afternoon.

Volunteers are needed to assist with school-age children in Dumas Wesley Community Center's After School Achievement Program. Volunteers will be responsible for, but not limited to: watching over the children, homework assistance, helping with daily activities, special events, and light organizing/cleaning. The program operates on the calendar year of the Mobile County Public School System. This volunteer need may also qualify for course credit or a student internship.

Volunteers can choose a day(s) Monday through Friday, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Volunteers may commit to one day a week or several days a week. All volunteers have to complete a background check and attend orientation before volunteering. Volunteers are needed throughout the school year, except June and July

SASOTA members will be involved in the setup and assistance of Open House for students interested in pursing a degree in occupational therapy. Volunteering will include escorting students throughout the OT department to inform them of the program, answering questions, and teaching the students about occupational therapy from a current student's point of view.
