Join Abeneefoo Kuo (ABK) Honor Society as we celebrate Warmth & Wellness Week with a special act of kindness and connection! Volunteers will help create holiday cards filled with love and encouragement, then visit Brookside Senior Living Community to sing Christmas carols and spread joy to the residents. This event is all about uplifting spirits, promoting emotional well-being, and reminding our community that the holiday season is brighter when we give back together. Let’s bring warmth, laughter, and a little holiday magic to those who need it most!

We will be going to the RMDH and preparing a meal for the patients and their family's.

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the Independent Music Collective (IMC) will be holding its first book fair of the semester in the HUMB courtyard from 9am to 4pm. Come browse our wide selection of used books (on all topics) and music in a variety of formats.

Volunteers are needed to assist with the fair during SET UP (7-9am) and TAKE DOWN (4-5pm). RESPOND here and serve one hour or more!

You can also just come to browse! Monetary donations collected support the IMC concert series. The IMC is a student organization at the University of South Alabama that works together with USA faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the broader community in an effort to enrich Mobile's music scene. Founded in 2009, the IMC sponsors a listening-room concert series that features roots musicians and Americana acts. Over the past 15 years, the IMC's concert series has become one of the premier listening-room stopovers in the Southeast.

St. Joseph Hospice is calling all volunteers ages 15 and older. St. Joseph Hospice is looking for volunteers for the following:

We are primarily seeking volunteers to provide respite relief, by providing companionship while the caregiver runs an errand. Many of our patients love to talk to new people and play board games or card games.

Hospice volunteers are the most special in the world! They always have the biggest hearts!     

Regular visits from Hospice Companions can minimize patient loneliness and isolation through fellowship.  These volunteers provide companionship to the patients and relief to their caregivers by offering a supportive presence, a listening ear and a helping hand. These type of volunteer may provide companionship, care-relief, pet therapy, life review, reading to the patient, playing games, writing letters on behalf of patient and many more tasks.  These volunteers are needed in Mobile County.  

If you have ever had a family member on Hospice, you have hopefully seen the impact that wonderful visitors can make on an entire family. 

This volunteer opportunity is great for students looking to build their resumes and get patient experience. Volunteering with patients 1:1  can sometimes be a little daunting, but we work hard to make things really comfortable for everyone! Schedules for volunteering with patients can also be super FLEXIBLE! Great for students. 

At the end of life, comfort is one of Hospice's main goals. If you are great at crafts, sewing, knitting, or crocheting, you can help provide comfort to patients and families who need it greatly!   

Items like lap blankets, fidget blankets, cards, room decorations, scrap booking, and more are needed. Your imagination can run wild because these items can go straight to patients and families to let them know someone cares.   

At the end of life, comfort  is one of our top goals in our Hospice organization. If you enjoy creating art work, painting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc. you can help provide comfort to our patients and families! Any items like blankets (or fidget blankets), paintings, any art work or arts & crafts, cards, home/room decor, etc. are needed! Let your unique skills and imagination run wild as your work becomes comfort to our patients and families when they need it most.

The Road To Recovery Volunteer Driver provides people with transportation to and from their cancer-related medical appointments. Drivers donate their time to help people with cancer get the lifesaving treatments they need.

Volunteers choose the rides that work best for their schedule. Most rides are scheduled during the weekday between 7am and 7pm. The American Cancer Society asks volunteers to commit to a minimum of 2 rides per month.

Volunteers needed to tutor elementary through high school students in all subject areas: English, math, science, and history. Tutors are needed Monday through Thursday from between 3-5 p.m. Tutors can attend one or more days per week. We will do virtual and/or in-person tutoring and will supply you with more information after you have responded to this need. We also need tutors for Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30 p.m. (virtual only). When responding to this need, please inform us of your preference in working with a group from elementary, middle, or high school students. If you do not have a preference, that's okay too.

Community Lunch is a weekly meal provided free of charge to the families we serve and allows us to stay connected with and minister to the adults in our community. We begin serving at noon and typically serve approximately 60-80 individuals. We are usually finished serving by 12:45pm. Volunteers generally arrive around 11:30 to set up and once they are done serving the meal, many enjoy sitting and eating with our folks and even praying with them. We serve a meal to 55+ middle and high school students each Wednesday evening as part of our Teen Night Bible study! These meals are all generously sponsored or provided by local families, churches, schools, civic organizations, and businesses! Monday Movers help us pick up thrift store donations for our thrift store - Dwell Goods! We need volunteers every Monday beginning at 11am. Larger vehicles, trucks, and trailers for pick-ups are most helpful, but not required. We are most in need of hands to help move and organize! Volunteers can expect to serve a few hours until early afternoon.

Volunteers are needed to assist with school-age children in Dumas Wesley Community Center's After School Achievement Program. Volunteers will be responsible for, but not limited to: watching over the children, homework assistance, helping with daily activities, special events, and light organizing/cleaning. The program operates on the calendar year of the Mobile County Public School System. This volunteer need may also qualify for course credit or a student internship.

Volunteers can choose a day(s) Monday through Friday, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Volunteers may commit to one day a week or several days a week. All volunteers have to complete a background check and attend orientation before volunteering. Volunteers are needed throughout the school year, except June and July

Our veteran patients that are currently on Hospice enjoy the camaraderie and the bond that only those with military histories share and pay tribute to others who have served our county.  These volunteers may provide social visits, take part in special pinning ceremonies, or interview and document veterans military stories through the veterans history project.  These visits would be made in the patients homes in Mobile County.       

At the end of life, comfort  is one of our top goals in our Hospice organization. If you enjoy creating art work, painting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc. you can help provide comfort to our patients and families! Join us as we come together and create arts and crafts projects together, share fellowship, and hand out these projects once complete to our patients and families. Any items like blankets (or fidget blankets), paintings, any art work or arts & crafts, cards, home/room decor, etc. can be made as we share time together and let our skills and imagination turn into beautiful gifts for our patients! Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are an extension of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mobile, Alabama, a bit of home within the walls of USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital.

The Family Rooms are located on the 3rd and 4th floors in the pediatric tower, and serve as a place of peaceful respite, possess a warm and friendly atmosphere for families to use while remaining merely steps away from their child’s bedside. 

RONALD MCDONALD FAMILY ROOM VOLUNTEER DUTIES 

Participate in our pop tab program by collecting pull tabs from aluminum cans and donating to Ronald McDonald House. The program raises approximately $3 – $4 thousand dollars each year and goes toward the operating costs of Ronald McDonald House of Mobile. This club will help our house by providing freezer ready meals which will be warmed and served to our families as needed when restaurant catered meals are not available.

RMHC of Mobile relies upon donations of household items and supplies to provide the comforts of home to our families in our 38 guestroom Home and our two Family Rooms located inside USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital. Your donations help make their stay more comfortable so they can care for their hospitalized child.

Next time you are out shopping for items for your own home, we would be grateful if you picked up a few things for us, too. You can also host a donation drive for “The House That Love Built” and collect wish list items at your office, church, school or with a community group. Please consider breaking large groups into several smaller groups.  Plan to cook for 45-50 people and prepare the meal in our RMHC House kitchen. Food prepared in commercial cooking establishments such as restaurants, catering services or cafeterias and then brought in or delivered is acceptable as well. Be the first person our families meet as they enter "The House that Love Built".

RECEPTIONIST  Monday-Friday  4:30PM-8:00PM  (Hours can be flexible and you can volunteer one day a week or as many as you would like).

Responsibilities to include answering phone calls and directing callers to the correct guest room or staff member, answering the doorbell (our house is under a secure system for entry), checking to make sure that anyone entering our house has the correct wrist band upon entry and if not, directing them to the house manager for information regarding how to become a guest.  Light clerical work during slow periods and assisting staff with small projects such as addressing and mailing envelopes or stuffing our "goodie bags" to be given to our new families upon check-in.

Do you enjoy quiet, focused tasks that make a big impact behind the scenes? We're looking for a detail-oriented volunteer to help us enter registrations for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, a program that delivers free books to children from birth to age five, right here in our community.

What You’ll Do: Twice a month, you'll spend a few hours entering new child registrations into our online system. It may not be glamorous, but your work ensures local children receive a brand-new, age-appropriate book in the mail each month—often the very first books they’ll ever own.

Why It Matters: Early exposure to books is one of the strongest predictors of a child’s future academic success. By volunteering your time, you’ll help foster a lifelong love of reading and learning for hundreds of children across Southwest Alabama.

Time Commitment and Skills Needed: Approximately 2 times per month, with flexible scheduling during business hours. You'll need basic computer skills, attention to detail, and a passion for giving kids a strong start in life.

Hunger is a real problem; you can work to end it by volunteering as a Food Sorting Volunteer with Feeding the Gulf Coast! 

Feeding the Gulf Coast seeks Food Sorting Volunteers to help inspect and sort food donations, preparing them for distribution to those in need. This includes checking expiration dates, making sure cans are not rusty or missing labels, and boxing similar items together to put on our shelves for our partner organizations to stock their pantries. This project requires you to engage in light to moderate physical activity.

A Guardianship is a legal relationship in which a Guardian is appointed by Mobile County Probate Court to make decisions for those incapacitated or unable to communicate decisions concerning their health or safety. The guardian does not handle any financial responsibilities. A Conservator is appointed by the court to handle these matters.

The Volunteer Guardian Program (VGP) is the last line of defense for vulnerable citizens - with no appropriate family or friends - against homelessness and worsening quality of life.  The VGP is administered by the Via Health, Fitness and Enrichment Center, and partners with the Mobile County Probate Court, the Mobile County Commission, the City of Mobile and community referral agencies.  Mobile County’s VGP was introduced by Probate Court Judge Don Davis in 2010, and the program remains the first and only of its kind in our state. 

The life-changing decisions Volunteer Guardians make for their wards impact basic needs (food and housing), medical treatments or care and end-of-life care.  Guardians attend court hearings, file paperwork, coordinate with other agencies to obtain needed services, shop or take  their ward shopping,  attend doctors’ appointments if needed and stay connected to ensure wards’ health and safety.

Since 2010, VGP has recruited, trained and matched hundreds of community volunteers to serve as Guardians for these special people. Currently, there are more than 65 amazing Volunteer Guardians active in the program.  They range in age from 21 to 65, and include college students, homemakers, nurses, pastors and preachers, Certified Nursing Assistants, social workers and even a retired FBI official. 

The Via Center is seeking caring and committed volunteers to become a part of the program.

What does it take to be a Volunteer Guardian?

We know that natural disasters happen, and it's not a matter of if they'll happen, but when they'll happen. And when they do happen, volunteers are needed in a hurry.

Sign up here to volunteer, not for a specific disaster, but to be the first to know when your assistance is needed following a disaster. You may also be notified from time to time of trainings that are available for disaster volunteers. Think of this as your opportunity to say that you're ready to help should action be necessary.

Each session offers a variety of fun and meaningful activities, including arts and crafts, music and dance, light exercise, educational opportunities, and social participation. We are looking for volunteers with gardening experience who would be willing to share their time and talent with our Home. We have several beautiful gardens for our Residents and visitors to enjoy, and would be most grateful for help in maintaining them. Schedule and time commitment is flexible. 

The woman of Theta Epsilon worked diligently for 2 weeks to perfect our dances and also participated in the fraternity week-long events.

We are seeking young men who wish to mentor and help guide middle school students within the frame of our military-styled leadership program.

We manage a program that assists all 14 Mobile County Public Middle Schools with their Leadership Officers Training Corps. The costs of this program are carried by the Mobile County Public Schools System and TAPS Drill.

We provide student uniforms, instructors, trophies (for competitions), teacher's aids in robotics, physical fitness and drone flight and other equipment.

We also welcome cash donations which are tax deductible for the giver.

Friendly callers needed to check on our local communities homebound and shut-in seniors.  With Circle of Friends, volunteers provide companionship and social contact to local seniors through weekly phone calls.  A simple call can make the difference in the life of a lonely senior!  Orientation and training provided.  Great opportunity for service, small group and church group projects.  Excellent soft skill experience for anyone!

Join Circle K International on October 17, 2024, at 5:00 PM as we make blankets for Housing First, Inc., an organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families facing homelessness. This hands-on service opportunity allows members to give back to the community by creating warm, handmade blankets for those in need.

We are in need of dining room volunteers to assist in serving our elderly Residents breakfast and aid in clearing tables afterward. Meals in our dining room are served restaurant style. Breakfast is from 7:45 a.m. - 9 a.m. As a dining room volunteer, you'll enjoy getting to know our wonderful Residents while helping them in a meaningful way. 

Currently we are looking for volunteers on Thursday or Friday morning.

Dining volunteers are provided aprons and hairnets. 

The Little Sisters of the Sacred Heart Residence is a home for the aging located in midtown Mobile. We are a non-profit and rely on generous volunteers to help accomplish our mission of loving service to the elderly poor. We appreciate your help!

Are you looking to make a difference for a local homeowner? Rebuilding Together of South Alabama (RTSOAL) is looking for volunteers or groups to assistance with service days. Tasks may include painting, cleaning, lawn maintenance, gardening or planting flowers at an upcoming community revitalization project.

Projects are scheduled on an "as-needed" basis and typically occur in spring, fall, and winter.

Brighten A Day Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to fighting isolation and spreading joy, invites you to help brighten the lives of retirement home residents. Many seniors experience loneliness and isolation, and your thoughtful cards or letters can bring a much-needed smile to their faces.

Volunteer Needs: Volunteers are needed to lead life skills classes, wellness education, exercise classes, recreation/games, arts and crafts and basic computer classes for seniors. (Only individuals or professionals with experience in a related field or experience are asked to lead a life skills class.)

Program Hours:

Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. 

Volunteer Hours:

Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Volunteers can commit to a one-time or a reoccurring volunteer commitment.

We are looking for volunteers who want to tutor students between the ages of 8 and 18 in an after-school tutoring program.  The times for tutoring are Tuesday from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m. and/or Thursday from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m., and we are looking for volunteers who will commit to at least a semester working with a small group of students.

NO: Please do not wear shorts, tank tops, cropped shirts, very tight clothing, or very baggy clothing.

Night Market is a collaborative event between the Vietnamese Student Association and Global USA, MSA, ISA, LASO, AED, and SASE to celebrate a variety of different cultures during International Education Week. Volunteers helped set up canopies and the general layout of the event in the SC amphitheater, during the event, and disassembling and cleaning up afterwards.

The HCA Decor Committee dedicates time helping with the creation, putting up, and taking down of decorations in the Bethel. There are various opportunities to volunteer during each holiday!

Triage Assistant Internships/Volunteers

Escort patients to and from the lobby area. Take vitals, complete medical history forms & update medical chart, etc. Determine the reason for the visit and prepare the patient to see the Doctor. Other duties include cleaning patients' rooms, stocking them, and preparing them for the next patient. Assist medical team as needed.

Attire: Solid Color Scrubs and closed-toed shoes

Triage volunteers work as a part of a team of 3 other triage assistants. Students' placement is based on their availability to volunteer 7:30 am - 12 pm or 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm and open shifts. (Commitment: One 4-hour shift once per week for the entire semester)

Shift AM: 7:30 am - 12:00 pm Monday - Friday

Shift PM 1:00 - 5:00 pm Monday - Thursday

Wharf of Wonder (WOW) Crew Members will help keep the Wharf clean and running smoothly and lead scheduled story times and activities in the Wharf of Wonder classroom space.
