Volunteers are need on Mondays and Tuesdays each week to operate our food drives. 

Mondays: We need volunteers to help unload produce, assemble boxes, sort food items and distribute food items into boxes/bags.

Tuesdays: This is a big day! We need volunteers to help set-up (early morning), pick up deliveries from grocery stores, sort/distribute food into boxes/bags and engage in heavy lifting (20 pound boxes).  

Volunteer Times: Mondays - 9 am - 1 pm / Tuesdays - 7 am - 1 pm   You choose the hours you want to work! :) 

We require our volunteers to wear gloves when handling food. Please wear comfortable closed toe shoes and clothing! We care about the safety of our recipients and our volunteers!

There is a significant need for help with delivering food to our group homes, senior apartment complexes and individuals who can not come to the Love All Pantry. It requires 2 people to go for safety reasons, and a vehicle to hold the packaged food. Arrive at 8-9 on Tuesday mornings,load and get directions.

TOUR GUIDE FOR THE DORA FRANKLIN FINLEY AFRICAN-AMERICAN HERITAGE TRAIL

We are searching for part-time tour guides (9 - 12 hours/week) for the Dora Franklin Finley African-American Heritage Trail.(DFFAAHT)  The tour guide’s responsibilities include familiarizing customers with local historic sites on the DFFAAHT, and new attractions. These tours are by vehicle (step on tour) and some walking tours. The tour guide will ensure the safety of the groups. The guide should be an excellent storyteller and give excellent customer service. Training and scripts will be provided by DFFAAHT.

TOUR GUIDE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Greeting and welcoming customers to the tour

Informing customers about itinerary for each tour

Planning itinerary in accordance with weather forecast

Familiarizing yourself with layout of the region

Directing customers to other noncompeting services that might be of interest to them. Having guest complete a short survey.

TOUR GUIDE REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or equivalent, college a plus.

Prior experience as a tour guide is advantages.

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

Adherence to prescribed safety codes.

Excellent conversational skills with an act for storytelling.

Personable, humorous disposition.

Outstanding organizational, time management, improvisational skills.  Ability to work mornings,  early afternoons and weekends.

Distribution and collection of dresses for sorority recruitment. The drive is open from 8 to 6 in the Student Life (Greek life) office in the student center. This is a resource for PNMs going through formal recruitment in the Fall, to help relieve the financial burden of purchasing outfits. 

The Dumas Wesley Community Center's transitional housing program, the Baldwin Family Village (BFV), is located in Fairhope, Alabama. The program provides 12 months of housing stability and wrap-around services for up to 100 women and children annually. BFV seeks to break the cycle of homelessness and help women and children re-establish and maintain self-sufficiency by focusing on accountability, case management, life skills and behavior modification.

Volunteers are needed to donate new items that will be included in a "Welcome Basket" for new residents upon move in to the Baldwin Family Village. Administrative volunteer needed one - two days a month, approximately 4 hours each day, to assist with daily receptionist duties - answering phones, greeting clients, preparing client files and setting up follow-up appointments. We have partnered with Goodwill Gulf Coast to share gently used books with students and community members. we ask volunteers to place labels inside of books prior to community events. Volunteers will be expected to peel labels and place labels inside of books. Each opportunity will provide volunteers with 100-400 books to prep. This opportunity is great for a small group 3-5, during business hours Monday-Thursday 8a.m.-4 p.m. This opportunity is available at the Clarke County and Mobile locations.

United Way needs assistance weeding, cutting patch of grass, and picking up trash at parking lot located in downtown Mobile. This opportunity would ideally occur after business hours or on the weekend.

Because of timing of work, volunteer would need to bring tools(weed eater, lawn mower, gloves, rake, garbage bags, hedge trimmers, wheelbarrow, etc)

Provide telephone contact, mailings, and visits to family members following the death of a loved one.  May help with adult support groups and/or Remembrance Ceremonies, and Camp Connect - a bereaved children's camp that is held annually.

The Center for Educational Accessibility and Disability Resources is looking for notetakers to help students in need of accommodations due to a disability. Students who volunteer for the position of notetaker will take notes for each class session they are assigned and will upload these notes on AIM in a typed format. Please visit the uploading file section on AIM for more information.  

In lieu of a stipend, volunteer notetakers are eligible for volunteer service hours. For each hour of a class, volunteers can receive one hour of service to account for the process of note taking and typing/formatting notes.

Each year, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society hosts a cycling fundraiser called Bike MS: Tour de Beach.  This event raises over $500,000 for programs, services, and research benefitting thousands of people in your region living with multiple sclerosis. Free event t-shirt, refreshments, and community service hours available.        

This year's event is scheduled for Friday September 16th,  Saturday September 17th and Sunday September 18th. We are in need of Volunteer Photographers to help capture the spirit, atmosphere and magic of this event. We have opportunities at the Start/Finish line, located at Gulf State Park.

Springboard To Opportunities is in need of 6-10 Storytime for Sprouts assistants to help with our youth literacy program for the residents at Dauphin Gate apartment complex.  

Volunteers (6-10) can expect to come and assist with literacy prep (must wear mask and have Covid-19 Vaccination). 

The Storytime for Sprouts program is an ongoing literacy session every 1st Monday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. and is designed to promote literacy with the youth in the local community. This program will hold story time for the children within the community. Parents will receive books to take home for their children at the end of the session as well for the kids to read at home.

 Volunteers can expect to work in a group every first Monday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The activities will be inside, so you are asked to wear comfortable attire or themed if you choose for kids. The schedules can be individually adjusted to fit what is comfortable for the volunteer and we welcome any "bright ideas" and thank you for any and all help in making impact in the apartment community.

Springboard To Opportunities is in need of 6-10 Community Garden assistants to help with our Community Garden program for the residents at Dauphin Gate apartment complex.

Victory has a need for volunteers with a medical background (RN, MD, et. al.)

The Museum is looking for volunteers to dedicate 1 to 2 hours per month pulling up weeds in the Robert Thrower Medicinal Garden. The garden consists of three small beds bordering the front of the house. Hours can be flexible.

By becoming a Rape Crisis Volunteer, you can help by assisting victims of sexual assault within our community. Volunteers are trained to accompany victims at the hospital immediately following the assault, answer crisis calls, assist and participate in community events and fundraising opportunities.

All potential volunteers are asked to attend a screening interview, which includes a background check. It is required and appreciated that each volunteer agrees to no less than one year of committed service. Autism2Ability is searching for a volunteer to assist with software called Foundation Search.  This person has to be extremely well versed in running this program.  Tutorials are done with a person who works at Foundation Search and has solid capability in assisting Autism2Ability.  The support is very good for the person using this database.  The sole purpose of this work is to find those foundations who focus on what we can provide.  Such as Social and Human Services, Health and Education, all of which fit our business model.

Interview is important for both parties to understand the total scope of this vital work.  Times and days will be agreed upon within the framework of the interview and to be sure there is ample time for the completion of responsibility.

The South Baldwin Literacy Council is looking for volunteer tutors! We have opportunities to work with elementary school students, English language learners, and students studying for their GED! We have volunteer sites in Daphne, Foley, and Gulf Shores.  Let us know which location might work best for you.

We urgently need volunteers to help get our Habitat houses built! Volunteers are so important to us because they are the ones who build our houses, under the supervision of our construction crew. We are able to keep building costs down and provide our families affordable housing, through the efforts of our volunteers! We build (Tuesday-Saturday, 8A-3P). We have a few builds coming up that need your help, and we welcome individual volunteers as well as groups. Duties range from painting to flooring and sometimes even putting up walls! No previous skills are needed. Come help build a Habitat Home today!

Docents needed to give tours of the house.

Volunteers are needed to care for the Friends of the Mobile Animal Shelter's adoptable cats housed at the Petco Store in the new McGowin Park Shopping Center. Volunteer duties are to clean the cat cages, check on their food & water, clean their litter boxes and area surrounding the cages, check on cleanliness of bedding, etc. There are only four (4) cats housed at the store, so the process should only take about 1/2 an hour. Morning shift volunteers can go by the store between the hours of 8:00-10:30am. Evening and weekend help needed. Evening shift volunteers can go by the store between the hours of 5:00-9:00pm.  Thank you in advance for your consideration!

Dependable person needed to take cats and dogs to/from shelter to vet or foster homes, normally during weekday business hours. Crate and blankets/carriers/leashes can be provided.  

Assist with paying bills, reconciling checkbook, making deposits, importing information into a software program and working with Quickbooks. United Way of Southwest Alabama (UWSWA) is forming teams of volunteers to help us on an ongoing basis with a number of tasks related to our various programs. We want to develop a group of volunteers whom we can call when different needs arise. Aide for Animals is a small, no-kill, non-profit  501c3 animal welfare organization, adoption center, assisted living and retirement home for healthy (non-contagious) domestic dogs and cats.  We are in need of mature, hard-working, and dependable volunteers to assist in maintaining our large cattery yard and general yard work.  Must have a genuine love and concern for animal welfare & enjoy interacting with dogs, cats, and other volunteers.

Looking for caring, self-directed flexible person, and have the ability to work with all kinds of people and situations.  Likes children and is able to relate to children of all ages.  The Victim Advocate Volunteer must be a responsible individual, who maintains the highest level of confidentiality. 

 Note: Most of the times trials start on a Monday and last more the one day.  We need only serious inquiries who have the time to be available for possibly mulitiple days from 8AM to 5PM. Also you should note that we keep a group of 10 vounteers at all times, therefore we do not need volunteers very often until someone decides they can no longer participate in the Volunteer Advocate Program any more.  If you are seriously interested and there are currently no openings your information will be kept on file until such time an opening becomes available.  There is an interview process to include a background check.

Historic Oakleigh is looking for volunteers interested in an indoor lobby position. We need volunteers to assist the daily lead docent in gift shop sales, answering phones, and welcoming guests. 

Our operating hours are 10am-3pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Tours are on the hour. Last tour is at 2pm.

If you are interested in helping lay mulch, paint, or powerwash, Historic Oakleigh is looking for volunteers looking to spend a work day on our grounds.
