Volunteer: Free Tax Help (VITA-Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)

Are you good at helping people put their life on a tax form?  You will get all the training you need to save local families LOTS of money by helping them get their taxes done for free.  Or volunteer to help with desk duty, welcoming and directing clients to meet with tax preparers.

Goodwill Gulf Coast will be staffing two locations to prepare taxes for free for local residents.  The Ladd Learning Center is located at 2440 Gordon Smith Drive in Mobile 36617, and the Azalea Community Center is 300-F Azalea Road, Mobile 36609.  Schedules will be posted in January.  Spend this fall learning all you need to know with VITA training, so you will be ready for the tax season in late January.  Next class starts soon!

Volunteer: Working with School-age Children in an After-School Program

Volunteers are needed to assist with school-age children in Dumas Wesley Community Center's After School Achievement Program. Mobile County EMA is looking for individuals in the Mobile, AL area who are willing to help our agency in assisting the citizens of Mobile.  Activities will be varied and require various physical activities and abilities.  It may be answering phones, loading water and food into vehicles, working in our warehouse or a donated goods warehouse, and managing various volunteer operations and many more possibilities.

Persons interested would be encouraged to participate in trainings and exercises to achieve a basic level of competency in emergency management practices and tactics.  Trainings would be free of charge and would be virtual and in-person.  A simple application and liability release are required.  Hours are flexible and would primarily be M-F, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM in Blue Skies (Day-to-Day) and in Grey Skies (Hazzard/Disaster times) it would be 4, 6, 8, and 12 hour shifts based on need and your willingness to participate.

If you are willing to be a force multiplier, are flexible, and want to be involved in the many avenues and activities in disaster response; WE WANT YOU!

We are seeking young men who wish to mentor and help guide middle school students within the frame of our military-styled leadership program.

We manage a program that assists all 14 Mobile County Public Middle Schools with their Leadership Officers Training Corps. The costs of this program are carried by the Mobile County Public Schools System and TAPS Drill.

We provide student uniforms, instructors, trophies (for competitions), teacher's aids in robotics, physical fitness and drone flight and other equipment.

We also welcome cash donations which are tax deductible for the giver.
