Who We Are

The mission of the Mobile Area Education Foundation is to realize bold solutions that dramatically improve the success of youth in the Mobile area.

What We Do

Since 1992, the Mobile Area Education Foundation (MAEF) continues to serve as the local education foundation in Mobile County. MAEF promotes and rewards innovation, research and development through forums designed to facilitate implementation of the citizen driven school improvement plan, provide programs that impact student performance and the graduation rate, provide quality professional development for teachers, expose students to career pathways to improve the number and quality of students entering the workforce, implement programs of drop-out prevention, and motivate and activate parental and community involvement in public education through such programs. In 2011 MAEF, in partnership with the Mobile County Public School System launched the Graduate Ready Initiative (Graduate Ready), a Yes We Can public engagement process, designed to reconnect our community with our schools and to mobilize the public to take action on increasing our graduation rate to 80% by the year 2020. The goal of Graduate Ready is to give preschoolers a healthy start, equip elementary students to become life-long learners, engage middle school students for a smooth transition to high school where they will be empowered to make college and career choices. MAEF believes dropout prevention is not only a moral imperative, but an economic imperative. In recognition of our local business/industry workforce needs, MAEF has also launched the 75,000 Degrees Initiative which is designed to increase the number of citizens in Mobile with degrees/credentials.
